DEPARTMENT OF ORTHOPEDICS
Dr med. René Malzkorn
• Dr med. René Malzkorn was born in 1967. From 1986 to 1988 he completed his training in Physiotherapy at the University of Düsseldorf. He then went on to study Medicine at the University of Düsseldorf from 1990 to 1998, earning his doctorate. He completed additional training to qualify as a specialist in Surgery at the Clinic Calw. From 2003 to 2006 Dr Malzkorn worked in the Spinal Surgery unit of the SHR Clinic in Karlsbad-Langensteinbach, where from 2006 to 2011 as Chief Physician he headed the outpatient facility for Interventional Therapy as well as paediatric consultations for spinal deformities. Currently, Dr Malzkorn has a private practice specialising in conservative treatment methods in Nagold. Dr Malzkorn has been a consultant for the Max Grundig Clinic since 2011.
DEPARTMENT OF Rheumatology
Dr Ralf Goldschmidt
• Dr Ralf Goldschmidt, born in 1961, studied Human Medicine from 1983 to 1989 in Münster and Heidelberg. In 1995 he qualified as a specialist in Anaesthesia, in 2001 as a specialist in Internal Medicine, in 2003 he obtained an additional qualification for Rheumatology, and in 2009 he earned an additional qualification for Nephrology. Dr Goldschmidt has been working at the Max Grundig Clinic since 1995, since 2007 as Chief Physician.
DEPARTMENT OF Gastroenterology
Dr Peter Maurer
• Dr Peter Maurer was born in 1951 in the town of Stühlingen near Lake Constance. From 1969 to 1976 he studied chemistry in Freiburg, where he then worked in research and teaching and completed his doctorate in biochemistry. Between 1976 and 1981 he studied medicine, and in 1983 he began working as an assistant physician at the Freiburg University Clinic. Since 1990, Dr Maurer has been Chief Physician of the Gastroenterology Division at the Max Grundig Clinic. As Chief Physician he also heads the Internal Medicine Division and the Check-up Centre.

Prof Dr Curt Diehm
• Prof Dr Curt Diehm studied human medicine at the universities in Heidelberg, Geneva and Paris. Following his doctorate with experimental work on therapy for acute heart attacks, Professor Diehm worked as a research assistant and resident at the Heidelberg University Hospital, where he qualified to become a professor in 1984 and took a position as professor in 1990. He received the Federal Cross of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz) in 2014 for his volunteer service as President of the German Association for Angiology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Angiologie/Gefäßmedizin), in addition to almost twenty years of service as the head of the German Association for Vascular Medicine (Deutsche Gefäßliga), as well as his longstanding work as a board member of the German Stroke Foundation (Stiftung Deutsche Schlaganfallhilfe).

Prof Dr Clemens Unger
• After completing a degree in education, Prof Dr med. Clemens Unger studied Human Medicine from 1972 to 1978 at the University of Göttingen. After earning his doctorate, he worked in research at the Max-Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry. From 1980 to 1988 he completed his specialised training in Internal Medicine/ Haemato-oncology, a field in which he then completed his post-doctoral qualification. Between 1993 and 2011, Prof Dr Unger was Director of the Clinic for Internal Oncology at the University of Freiburg, and since 2011 he has been Senior Physician at the Centre for Cancer Medicine in Freiburg. Prof Dr Unger is a member of several international professional associations and is the recipient of numerous awards and distinctions.
