Hearing loss might nearly double in the coming decades. The increase would most likely happen by 2060, researchers at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore said Thursday.
The study, based on an analysis of data from the U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, also showed the most common cause of hearing loss is prolonged exposure to loud noise. Hearing loss is a major public health issue that will affect many more adults, The study was published in JAMA Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery.
Dr.Tucci, further advised every individual who is aged 55 to 60 years to go for hearing tests, so that any issues can be diagnosed at the earliest before it reaches severe levels.
The price of a hearing aid may vary from $1,200 to $3,500 per piece.
